Useful information
Septic tanks are not the same as mains drainage. Before installation or replacement, the discharge route and applicable environmental requirements must be considered. In England, a septic tank generally cannot discharge directly to a watercourse; the appropriate solution depends on the site and current regulations.
Persistent odours, sewage backing up, unusually slow drains or saturated ground near the system can justify an inspection.
Confirm the type of system, discharge arrangements, available land and whether permits or other approvals may be required.
Tell us your location, the type of property and what you know about the existing tank. We can discuss the next step without assuming a particular solution.
